Job summary

Cohere, a security-first enterprise AI company, is hiring a Senior/Staff Back-End Software Engineer to shape Model Vault in San Francisco. You will define architecture for authentication, deployment, billing, security, and scalable control planes across clouds and hardware.

You will join a team of engineers building reliable, private systems with strong correctness, observability, and performance. This role is remote-friendly with opportunities for office collaboration and a competitive benefits

Qualifications

• Strong backend engineer with distributed systems, databases, networking, OS, and security fundamentals.
• Proficient in building production systems with Go, Python, Java, C++, or Rust.
• Experience designing scalable, secure, fault-tolerant services at enterprise scale.

Responsibilities

• Evolve and scale backend systems powering Model Vault, including auth, deployment mgmt, billing, metering, and lifecycle.
• Lead architectural initiatives across identity, payments, usage, and platform scalability.
• Build reliable control-plane services for provisioning and operating model deployments across clouds/hardware.
• Design APIs and distributed systems with guarantees on correctness, isolation, recovery, idempotency, and observability.
• Incorporate security and privacy into platform architecture, including tenant isolation and secrets management.
• Solve complex backend/cloud/security/AI inference problems beyond standard SaaS patterns.
• Drive end-to-end projects from architecture to rollout and operations based on real workloads.
