Job summary

Clear Fracture in Vienna, VA, seeks a backend-focused Senior Software Engineer to design and build authorization and identity systems embedded in our AI-driven data platform. You will implement fine-grained access control, authentication, and tenant-aware security across core workflows.

You'll work with backend, platform, and DevOps engineers to integrate authorization into APIs, services, and agent execution paths, solving complex distributed security challenges in production code.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience building authorization, identity, or authentication systems in application code.
• Strong backend software engineering experience (Python, Go, Java)
• Experience with RBAC, ABAC, and/or policy-based access control models
• Experience with OAuth2, OpenID Connect (OIDC), SAML, and enterprise SSO
• Experience designing or implementing fine-grained permissions in distributed systems
• Experience with multi-tenant applications and strong isolation requirements
• Familiarity with threat modeling and secure design, esp. around access control
• Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Excellent communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts
• US Citizenship and ability to obtain Secret Clearance

Responsibilities

• Design and implement fine-grained authorization systems within the product.
• Write production-level backend code to enforce authorization across APIs, services, and agent paths.
• Implement authentication flows and integrate with enterprise identity providers (OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, AD).
• Design tenant-aware access control and isolation across services and data layers.
• Contribute to security architecture including policy models and enforcement patterns.
• Participate in threat modeling and design reviews focused on authorization boundaries.
• Define and monitor safeguards to mitigate privilege escalation risk.
• Create developer-friendly abstractions, APIs, and documentation for authorization logic.
