Job summary

DoorDash is seeking Staff Backend Engineers to join our hybrid engineering teams. You will own backend services and architecture for a large-scale 24x7 global infrastructure powering our 3-sided marketplace and product platforms.

You will mentor engineers, drive cross-functional projects end-to-end, and help transition from monoliths to microservices, focusing on performance, reliability, and security across HTTP/REST stacks.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of industry experience.
• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Experience with backend tech stacks and service-oriented architecture.
• Experience designing REST APIs and HTTP workloads.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases such as Postgres, Redis, Elasticsearch, RabbitMQ.

Responsibilities

• Develop, release and run large-scale web applications.
• Define the backend architecture and tech stack for a product area.
• Improve performance, reliability, scalability and security of backend systems.
• Transition monolithic codebases to a microservice-based architecture.
• Collaborate cross-functionally and influence technical roadmaps.
