Job summary

Grafana Labs, the company behind the open observability cloud, is hiring a Senior Engineer for Pyroscope. This remote role targets candidates in the UK, Germany, Spain, Sweden, and Ireland but is open to others via international remote work.

You will own meaningful projects end to end, design and operate core distributed database components, and contribute to open source. The role emphasizes collaboration, automation, and shaping the product alongside customers.

Qualifications

• Solid experience with a systems language (Go) and other languages like Rust, C, Python.
• Distributed systems in production and cloud services experience.
• Strong product sense: able to talk to customers, translate pain points into deliverables and shape roadmaps.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects from concept to rollout, including design, delivery, operations, and follow-up with customers.
• Design, build, and operate core components of a distributed database: ingestion, storage, and query.
• Wear the product hat: engineers join customer calls and shape the roadmap without a dedicated PM.
• Drive operational excellence: own outcomes against SLOs and unit costs, reduce toil through automation.
• Partner across Grafana with App Observability, Tempo, and other squads to make profiles useful.
• Support teammates through design discussions, code reviews, and pairing in a fully remote setup.
• Participate in on-call (EMEA rotation) and contribute to post-incident learning.
• Contribute to open source; engage with the community and steer the project in public.
