Job summary

ProphetX is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer (IC3) to own design, development, deployment, and maintenance of complex backend systems. You will lead delivery on large projects within the team and translate product requirements into engineering tasks.

This role focuses on building scalable real-time services in fintech, with emphasis on Go, AWS, microservices, REST/WebSocket APIs, and collaboration with offshore teams.

Qualifications

• 3+ years backend experience in Go, Java, C++, or Python, with Go preferred
• 2+ years building on AWS or equivalent cloud platforms (GCP, Azure)
• Proven experience building scalable, real-time systems in production
• Strong command of microservices architecture and design patterns
• Experience with event-driven and asynchronous systems (e.g., Kafka)
• Designing RESTful and WebSocket APIs
• In-depth knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases
• Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tooling
• Familiarity with monitoring/logging tools (New Relic, Datadog, Kibana)
• Proficiency with Git or similar VCS
• Experience with testing frameworks and unit tests
• Strong communicator able to explain complex concepts
• Proactive, growth-focused, adaptable with ownership

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of large projects within one team with production ownership
• Translate product requirements into detailed engineering tasks
• Monitor product health and drive performance issue resolutions
• Evolve key systems and frameworks balancing innovation with reliability
• Set and uphold software development best practices across the workstream
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and technologies and drive adoption
• Collaborate with offshore and distributed teams
• Analyze complex problems and break them into smaller workstreams
• Share knowledge with peers and junior engineers
