Job summary

ProphetX is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team of about 7 engineers building real-time, high-throughput systems at the core of our exchange. You’ll own delivery, technical quality, and team growth while staying hands-on with architecture decisions.

You will partner with Product, Compliance, Risk, and Legal to meet regulatory requirements and maintain reliability, latency improvements, and scalable performance in a fast-moving, post-Series A environment. Remote within the USA.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, incl. 2+ years managing teams
• Strong background building scalable, low-latency real-time systems
• Hands-on with backend stacks (Go, Java, C++, Python) and microservices
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS), containers (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD
• Observability and incident management tooling experience
• Proven ability to deliver complex projects on time with risk management
• Ability to coach, develop, retain engineers and give direct feedback
• Experience managing distributed/offshore teams
• Strong communicator, able to explain complex tradeoffs to diverse audiences
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent experience
• Proactive, adaptable with ownership mindset

Responsibilities

• Own delivery of team roadmap from planning to launch and post-launch
• Collaborate on architecture for low-latency real-time systems
• Uphold standards for code quality, testing, security, and observability
• Own production health, incident response, postmortems and reliability improvements
• Balance feature velocity with technical debt and platform investments
• Directly manage ~7 engineers with regular 1:1s and performance reviews
• Lead hiring and mentorship to promote career growth
• Foster inclusive, distributed-team culture across time zones
• Partner with Product, Compliance, Risk, and Legal to meet regulatory requirements
• Communicate progress and risks to executives with clear escalation
