Unity Technologies is seeking a privacy-focused backend engineer to own consent and data-subject request workflows within the Ads Privacy team. You will design and operate low-latency services that move consent signals from SDKs to auctions, while ensuring compliance across GDPR and CCPA.

You’ll collaborate with legal, ML, and data teams to ship compliant, auditable solutions. The role emphasizes high-availability systems, cloud-native tooling (Kubernetes), and responsible data handling.

Qualifications

• Design low-latency APIs and distributed backend services for high QPS in production.
• Proficiency in Golang; Java also welcome.
• Experience operating services on cloud infrastructure with Kubernetes.
• Experience with streaming platforms such as Kafka and event-driven system design.
• Strong communication and ability to work in multi-functional teams.
• Familiarity with AdTech and IAB frameworks like TCF (nice to have).

Responsibilities

• Build and operate the systems that carry consent and opt-out signals from the SDK through to the auction in the request path at high QPS.
• Own data subject request fulfilment across many downstream systems and teams, tracking to completion.
• Translate GDPR/CCPA requirements into per-jurisdiction configurations that ship without code changes per country.
• Build measurement and auditing to prove the above is working and catch when it isn’t.
• Contribute to trust and safety through content policy enforcement at scale and fraud-detection tooling.
• Partner with legal/privacy and ML/data engineers to productionize models and pipelines.
• Manage your own priorities and drive work across team boundaries.
