Job summary

Unity Technologies in Mountain View is seeking a privacy-focused backend engineer to own consent and data‐subject request systems end to end in the Ads Privacy team.

You will design low-latency APIs, implement in Golang, run on Kubernetes, and translate GDPR/CCPA requirements into production configuration. Collaboration with legal, ML, and data teams is required.

This role emphasizes reliability, auditing, and international privacy compliance, with equity and competitive compensation in USD.

Qualifications

• Experience designing low-latency APIs and distributed backend services in production.
• Proficiency implementing scalable code in Golang; Java also welcome.
• Hands-on experience operating services on cloud infrastructure with Kubernetes.
• Experience with streaming platforms such as Kafka and event-driven design.
• Familiar with data privacy requirements and external audits.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate consent and opt-out systems from SDK to auction in the request path.
• Own data subject request fulfilment and SLA tracking across downstream systems.
• Translate GDPR/CCPA into per-jurisdiction configuration without code changes.
• Build measurement and auditing to prove systems are functioning correctly.
• Collaborate with legal, ML, and data engineers to productionize models and pipelines.
