Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional backend software engineering experience.
• Experience architecting, building, and operating mission‑critical distributed systems at large scale.
• Ability to reason about distributed systems trade‑offs across consistency, latency, and throughput.
• Commitment to engineering excellence, continuous improvement, and curiosity to evaluate new technologies and patterns.
• Strong written and verbal communication to drive consensus on complex concepts with diverse audiences.
• Track record of building healthy long‑term relationships and technical influence beyond the team.
• Experience using generative AI tools throughout the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services powering Apple Gift Card experiences.
• Architect secure, high-performance APIs and services that handle millions of transactions globally.
• Own systems end to end — from design and implementation through deployment, monitoring, and on‑call.
• Deploy and operate services on Apple’s internal cloud platform, using automated delivery pipelines and infrastructure as code.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with teams across Apple to integrate with core financial and commerce systems, and with external partners.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting to ensure reliability and visibility in production.
• Participate in code reviews and design discussions, and help raise the technical bar across the team.
• Lead complex projects from conception to production, driving consensus on technical direction along the way.
• Continuously improve system performance, developer experience, and operational excellence.
