Job summary

LVT in American Fork, UT is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to build scalable microservices and APIs using Node.js and TypeScript. You will work as an individual contributor with a team, shipping high-performance backend features while upholding software craftsmanship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience shipping production‑level microservices and APIs.
• 3+ years of hands‑on experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs (OpenAPI) and GraphQL.
• Familiarity with modern server frameworks (NestJS) and containerized workflows with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD tools.
• Relational database SQL and schema design optimization.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced Agile environment.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain high-velocity backend features and API endpoints using Node.js and TypeScript.
• Optimize backend architecture, API latency, and database queries.
• Collaborate with Product, QA, and DevOps to translate requirements into technical specs and releases.
• Promote code quality through unit tests, code reviews, and documentation.
• Perform root-cause analysis on production defects and resolve issues.
• Provide mentorship to fellow engineers.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and testing tooling.
• Stay current on cloud architecture and backend patterns.
