Reddit, Inc. is seeking a product-minded Senior Software Engineer to design backend architectures powering media creation, including video and image workflows.

You will define APIs and collaborate with product and design to deliver high-quality media experiences globally from a remote US-based team. The role requires 3+ years in distributed systems, strong coding skills in Go, Python, or Java, and experience with GraphQL/REST.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years in large-scale distributed systems.
• 5+ years of hands-on software development in multiple languages (Go, Python, Ruby, Java, C++).
• Experience with GraphQL, REST, HTTP, gRPC, Thrift basics and API design.
• Experience with distributed caching and large-scale data storage like Redis.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to deliver on schedule.
• Excellent communication in a fully remote environment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product, design and engineering to build new media creation features.
• Own backend infrastructure and APIs for media workflows.
• Contribute to full development cycle including design, testing and launch.
• Mentor juniors and improve engineering standards.
• Balance speed and quality while shipping new products.
