Reddit is seeking a Sr Software Engineer to shape the next version of our media web experience, focusing on the web media player and power APIs. You will design fullstack solutions, optimize UI components in React/TypeScript, and enhance backend services in Go and Python for low-latency playback.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Science or a similar field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience in one or more general purpose programming languages (Go, Python, Ruby, Java, C++).
• Strong proficiency in modern web development technologies (JavaScript, React, Next.js, TypeScript) and translating complex UI/UX designs into scalable web apps.
• Experience with GraphQL, REST, HTTP, gRPC, Thrift basics and designing maintainable APIs.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks to meet schedules.
• Excellent communication skills for collaborating with remote teams.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering to deliver features for the media web experience.
• Contribute to the full development cycle: design, development, testing, experimentation, and launch.
• Design and implement end-to-end fullstack solutions: web UI (React/TypeScript) and backend APIs (Go/Python).
• Balance speed and quality, avoid critical bugs, and review code and designs.
• Work with client/platform engineers to optimize media delivery globally and improve performance.
