Shipcom is seeking an analytical, results-driven Back-end Developer to design, build and enhance our IoT back-end applications. You will analyze code bases, implement efficient processes and create reliable API layers for users.

You will drive end-to-end features, improve reliability and performance, and collaborate with engineers to scale the platform from our Houston HQ. This role offers visibility across teams and a chance to shape product success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering. Master’s degree preferred.
• 7+ years of enterprise software development experience.
• Proven experience building high-performance, scalable systems.
• Strong proficiency with run-time environments such as Node.js and ASP.NET.
• Proficiency with server-side languages such as .NET, C#, Python and PHP.
• Working knowledge of IoT strategy, standards, protocols.
• Experience with SQL Server, MySQL, MongoDB.
• Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks (AngularJS, React).
• Experience deploying software on Azure and AWS.
• Knowledge of CI/CD and code versioning tools.
• Familiarity with Agile Scrum methodology.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design and develop software and tools for managing complex business workflows.
• Define and develop APIs and integration strategy with 3rd party applications.
• Identify architectural risks and mitigation plans.
• Collaborate with front-end, DBAs and team members to deliver cohesive code.
• Design, develop and integrate with web APIs.
• Analyze data and code to troubleshoot issues.
• Improve efficiency and optimize performance.
• Ensure cross-platform optimization for web and mobile.
• Implement security and data protection measures.
• Stay updated on web developments and programming languages.
• Manage timelines and progress across teams.
