Job summary

Verkada is seeking an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to own and scale the Intercom backend, delivering low-latency, globally deployed services. You will work with firmware, mobile, and frontend teams to ship significant products and drive architectural direction.

You will lead a team in a fast-growing startup environment, owning end-to-end systems, and leveraging PostgreSQL, Python or Go, and Kubernetes in a globally distributed product line.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of backend software engineering experience
• 4+ years as a backend engineer in a growing startup
• Experience driving technical direction and leading engineers
• Architect scalable systems with latency-sensitive backend APIs
• Collaborate across teams to design robust APIs
• Shipping significant products and owning end-to-end systems
• Deep PostgreSQL expertise; Python or Go proficiency
• Kubernetes experience is a plus

Responsibilities

• Own backend systems end-to-end for Intercom product line.
