Job summary

Bestow is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer II for the IPC Engineering team in Dallas. You will design, build, and operate backend services with Go, Python, and Java, focusing on scalable microservices and distributed systems.

You’ll work across teams, mentor peers, and contribute to platform reliability in a remote-first, async environment. Ideal candidates have 5+ years of backend experience, strong Go and Python skills, PostgreSQL expertise, and hands-on cloud experience (Kubernetes, Docker,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software development experience at a senior level.
• Strong proficiency in Go and Python; Java experience a plus.
• Solid experience with distributed systems, microservices, and API design (Protobufs, OpenAPI).
• Comfortable with PostgreSQL or other relational DBs at scale.
• Hands-on experience with cloud infra—Kubernetes, Docker, and GCP.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to technical design decisions for IPC services, balancing delivery speed with long-term maintainability.
• Design, build, and operate backend services using Python + PostgreSQL, Go, Java-based Drools rules engine.
• Partner with other Bestow engineering teams on integration work across the platform.
• Help build platform capabilities that scale with Bestow's growing partner ecosystem—carrier onboardings and product launches.
• Mentor engineers through code review, design review, pairing.
• Support production reliability: maintain/improve SLOs, observability, on-call for IPC workloads.
• Use agentic AI coding tools as core part of workflow; promote AI-assisted dev practices.
• Communicate technical decisions and trade-offs clearly in writing in a remote-first, async-heavy team.
