Job summary

onX is seeking a Backend Engineer to help build reliable, well-tested backend services behind content experimentation, event tracking, and app-start fidelity. You will join Growth Infrastructure, supporting Growth engineering across Hunt, Offroad, Backcountry, and Fish.

This core role reports to the Growth Infrastructure Engineering Manager and offers impact across multiple verticals. You will work with cross-functional teams, contribute to architectural decisions, and push for scalable

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience, primarily in API development.
• Demonstrated passion for onX's Company Values and ability to work in a distributed, fast-paced tech environment.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain scalable backend services for Growth Infrastructure.
• Write unit, integration, and acceptance tests.
• Participate in architecture discussions and propose service designs.
• Collaborate with engineers, PMs, and cross-functional teams (mobile, BI, marketing).
• Leverage existing onX services and avoid reinventing them.
• Identify AI-driven workflows to increase velocity without compromising quality.
• Participate in on-call rotations to support backend services after hours.
