Job summary

Swish Labs, a NY-based hybrid fintech startup, seeks a backend engineer to design and maintain core services moving a loan from application to funding. You’ll collaborate with product and design, write clean, testable Go code, review peers, and drive reliability and technical direction.

You will own APIs and integrations with credit, verification, document, and pricing providers, plus build the automation layer that translates model output into auditable decisions for lenders and regulators.

Qualifications

• 6+ years building production software with ownership of critical systems.
• Strong backend experience designing APIs, working with relational databases, and reasoning about scale and failure.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and containerized deployment.
• Care for correctness and auditability; be able to show what happened and why.
• Mortgage, lending, fintech, or regulated-domain experience is a strong plus.
• A computer science degree is not required.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain the core backend services that move a loan from application through underwriting to funding.
• Work directly with product and design; write clean and testable code; review others' work.
• Improve reliability and help set technical direction; mentor engineers who join after you.
• Develop APIs and integrations with credit, verification, document, and pricing providers.
• Build the automation layer that turns model output into decisions lenders can trust and explain.
• Focus on performance, reliability, and tooling that keeps production honest.
