Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Financing Engineering team to design, build, and scale lending-related systems that support Portfolio Margin, Trade Finance, and more. You will own backend services delivering reliable, revenue-driving capabilities for institutional clients.

You will collaborate with Product, Risk, and Operations to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions while improving tooling and reliability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years backend experience with production ownership of high-reliability services.
• Experience designing, building, and scaling service-oriented architectures in Go or Java.
• Experience building and operating distributed systems with correctness, availability, and data integrity.
• Ability to mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and raise code quality across a team.
• Familiarity with relational data stores, gRPC/Protobuf, and observability tooling in a cloud-native environment.
• Uses generative AI responsibly with human oversight to improve workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and delivery of new financing products and features from architecture to production launch.
• Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and frameworks for loan lifecycle management, risk calculations, and real-time position tracking.
• Improve tooling, testing infrastructure, monitoring, and reliability across financing systems.
• Collaborate with Product, Risk, Operations and other teams to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Lead initiatives to strengthen system resilience and reduce operational risk while enabling fast shipping.
