Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Financing Engineering team within the Institutional group. You will design, build, and scale the systems that safely manage billions of dollars in loans across Portfolio Margin, Trade Finance, Agency Lending, and more.

You’ll own critical backend services that drive revenue and risk management. You will collaborate with Product, Risk, and Operations, shipping high-value features from architecture through production, in a remote-first

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering with high-reliability workloads.
• Experience designing and scaling service-oriented architectures.
• Mentor engineers and lead design reviews to improve code quality.
• Familiar with relational data stores, gRPC/Protobuf, observability in cloud-native environments.
• Use AI responsibly to improve workflows with human oversight.

Responsibilities

• Own design and delivery of financing products and features from architecture to production launch.
• Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and frameworks for loan lifecycle and risk calculations.
• Improve tooling, testing, monitoring, and reliability across financing systems.
• Collaborate with Product, Risk, Ops, and other teams to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
• Lead initiatives that strengthen system resilience and safe shipping at speed.
