Self Financial is a venture-backed FinTech focused on financial inclusion, building credit and savings tools for millions of Americans. We’re hiring a Backend Software Engineer to own services powering our mobile app and web experiences, collaborating across teams to ship reliable, scalable backend systems.

You’ll work with Python, Flask, and FastAPI, design REST endpoints, and partner with product, design, and QA to deliver user-centric improvements in a fast-paced environment.

Qualificações

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with ownership of backend services
• Strong working knowledge of Python and web fundamentals
• Solid understanding of REST APIs and backend communication
• Experience with Git and collaborative development practices
• Track record of writing reliable, secure, and maintainable code
• Strong communication and ability to work independently within a cross-functional team

Responsabilidades

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs using Python, Flask, and FastAPI with ownership over a system area
• Design and implement REST endpoints for web and mobile clients with scalability in mind
• Work with relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and write efficient queries
• Integrate with third-party services like payment processors, credit bureaus, messaging, and analytics tools
• Write clean, maintainable code and perform thoughtful code reviews
• Advise on testing, security, performance, and safe releases across the team
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Frontend Engineering, QA, and management to ship user-focused improvements
• Debug complex issues and deepen understanding of backend architecture
• Contribute to team rituals, docs, and continuous improvement
