Ladders is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to join a leader in the Telecommunications & Hardware space. The role focuses on building and scaling backend systems that support large-volume workflows, data processing, and reliable service performance.

You will work across API development, workflow orchestration, and cloud infrastructure to improve maintainability, visibility, and throughput. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with modern languages.
• Experience with workflow orchestration or distributed task-processing systems in production.
• Hands-on experience with high-throughput data processing and ETL pipelines.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain features in the core Python API with emphasis on performance.
• Operate workflow orchestration for large-scale workloads using tools such as Prefect or Temporal.
• Build scalable orchestration for concurrent workflows with visibility into progress and failures.
• Optimize complex SQL queries in production environments.
• Develop high-throughput data processing and ETL pipelines for raw assessment data.
• Contribute to AWS datalake architecture, including storage layout and query performance.
• Deploy and manage services on Kubernetes.

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer, External to join the team of a leader in the Telecommunications & Hardware space.

This role will focus on building and scaling backend systems that support large-volume workflows, data processing, and reliable service performance. You will work across core API development, workflow orchestration, and cloud infrastructure to improve maintainability, visibility, and throughput. The position also partners closely with technical teams to optimize data pipelines, SQL performance, and Kubernetes-based deployment operations.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $199,750 - $235,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain features in the core Python API with an emphasis on performance and maintainability
• Operate workflow orchestration for large-scale workloads using tools such as Prefect or Temporal
