Ladders is seeking a Senior Manager, Backend to join our healthcare client’s team. This role guides backend engineering delivery across multiple squads, shaping scalable systems that power a consumer-facing healthcare experience.

You will partner with engineering peers and cross-functional stakeholders to balance speed, quality, cost, security, and compliance. The position combines leadership with hands-on design reviews, ensuring reliability and strong technical decision-making as the platform

Qualifications

• 8+ years in backend engineering with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Strong understanding of modern distributed systems, AWS, and APIs.
• Proven ability to lead cross-team initiatives from design to production.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience managing and scaling engineering teams at a system-wide level.

• Lead the end-to-end delivery of backend features across multiple squads.
• Drive performance reviews and career development discussions for the team.
• Review technical designs and trade-offs between speed, quality, and cost.

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Manager, Backend to join the team of a leader in the Healthcare space.

This role will guide backend engineering delivery across multiple squads, helping shape scalable systems that support a consumer-facing healthcare experience. You will partner closely with engineering peers and cross-functional stakeholders to balance speed, quality, cost, security, and compliance. The position also plays a key leadership role in developing engineers, strengthening technical decision-making, and improving the reliability of the platform as it grows.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $185,000 - $200,000 annually
