Job summary

Renew Home is seeking a talented Backend Software Engineer to join the HVAC Ecosystem team and drive third-party device integrations and daily customer experiences. You will collaborate with product, analytics, and engineering to build features that shape how customers interact with our energy-saving product.

Requirements include 4+ years in backend development, a CS degree, strong SQL, and proficiency in Python, Java, PHP or Ruby.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of industry experience building backend software services.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
• Experience building features for scale and performance with scalable APIs and REST.
• Strong SQL skills with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., Postgres, MySQL, Redis, MongoDB).
• Proficiency in Python, Java, PHP or Ruby.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and build backend features to support Renew Home customer experiences and third-party device integrations.
• Serve as the technical owner of critical product experience flows.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, analytics, and product management.
• Work with stack: Python, Nx, PostgreSQL, Celery, AWS/GCP, CDK, ECS/EKS, RDS, Redshift, S3, SQS, SES; Ubuntu, Apache, Redis, Git, Jira.
• Implement API monitoring and monitor service performance.
• Participate in regular team updates, standups, 1-on-1s and peer code reviews.
