Octopus Energy Group is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer based in the United States to join the global OE Engineering backend team. You’ll work on time-of-use tariffs and meter-reading features within a fast-moving, agile environment.

You’ll collaborate across teams in multiple countries, embrace a flat hierarchy, and contribute to innovative, scalable backend services using Python, Django, GraphQL, and Postgres. Remote-friendly with strong engineering culture.

Qualifications

• General interest in technology and problem-solving; diligent and thoughtful.
• Experience with Python and Django or equivalent web framework.
• Experience with domain modelling and GraphQL.
• Experience writing robust and fault-tolerant software.
• Experience with Celery and async processing.
• Experience with Postgres.
