Job summary

Renew Home is seeking a strong backend Software Engineer to join our HVAC Ecosystem team and drive third-party device integrations while shaping the day-to-day customer experience. You will collaborate with product, analytics, and engineering to deliver features that enable energy-saving automation.

You will work across Python, AWS/GCP, PostgreSQL, and REST APIs, taking ownership of critical flows and performance monitoring in a fully remote environment with a strong emphasis on collaboration

Qualifications

• 4+ years of industry experience building backend software services.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science or demonstrated experience in the software industry.
• Experience building features for scale and performance with REST APIs.
• Strong SQL skills and familiarity with SQL and No-SQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB, etc.).
• Proficiency in Python, Java, PHP, or Ruby; ability to work through ambiguity and solve problems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and build backend features to support Renew Home customer experiences and third-party device integrations.
• Serve as the technical owner of critical product experience flows.
• Work with cross-functional teams including engineering, analytics, and product management.
• Work on various stack components: Python, Nx, PostgreSQL, Celery, AWS/GCP (CDK, ECS/EKS, RDS, Redshift, S3, SQS, SES), Ubuntu, Redis, Git, Jira.
• Implement API monitoring tools and monitor API service performance.
