Job summary

ID.me is seeking a Software Engineer III for the Developer Portal team to build a self-service platform enabling organizations to rapidly integrate ID.me. You’ll own backend APIs, data models, and frontend touchpoints, shipping features from API contracts through customer-facing surfaces using Java Spring Boot, Ruby, Next.js, React, and TypeScript.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 4+ years of professional software development experience building and operating production backend services.
• Strong experience building backend services and REST APIs using a modern web framework (e.g., Java Spring Boot, Ruby on Rails, Node.js).
• Deep experience with relational databases including complex SQL and safe schema migrations.
• Experience designing REST API contracts with versioning and OpenAPI.
• Proficiency with TypeScript and React for frontend tasks.
• Familiarity with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, or related identity standards.
• Proven ability to drive small-to-medium technical initiatives across teams.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tooling and AI-first culture.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement Developer Portal capabilities end-to-end, from API contracts to frontend integration.
• Own data models and REST API contracts, ensuring backwards compatibility.
• Build secure authentication and authorization features spanning OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and enterprise SSO.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Architecture, and Platform teams to maintain a coherent developer experience.
• Lead features end-to-end—from contract to deployment and production operation.
