Job summary

ID.me is seeking a Software Engineer III for the Developer Portal team in Mountain View, CA. You will design and ship backend and frontend features, owning API contracts, data models, and secure authentication flows.

You’ll collaborate across product and platform teams to deliver a modern self-service developer experience. You will work with Java (Spring Boot) and Ruby on Rails on the backend and with Next.js/React/TypeScript on the frontend, taking features from API design through production

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software development experience building and operating production backend services.
• Strong experience building backend services and REST APIs using Java (Spring Boot), Ruby on Rails, Node.js, or similar.
• Deep experience with relational databases, including authoring complex SQL and performing safe schema migrations.
• Experience designing REST API contracts, including versioning and backwards compatibility, and documenting them with OpenAPI or a similar specification.
• Working proficiency with TypeScript and React and shipping customer-facing features from frontend to backend.
• Knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, or related identity standards.
• Demonstrated ability to drive small-to-medium technical initiatives across teams.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tooling and AI-first engineering practices.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across Product, Design, and Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement Developer Portal capabilities end-to-end, driving small-to-medium features across services.
• Own the data models and REST API contracts with attention to backwards compatibility and versioning.
• Build secure authentication/authorization capabilities including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and enterprise SSO.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Architecture, and Platform teams to ensure a coherent developer experience.
