Job summary

ID.me is seeking a Software Engineer III for the Developer Portal team in Mountain View, CA. You’ll help build the self-service platform enabling organizations to rapidly integrate id.me, focusing on backend services, APIs, and data models, with frontend work in Next.js/React/TypeScript to deliver complete user-facing experiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 4+ years of professional software development experience building and operating production backend services.
• Strong experience building backend services and REST APIs using modern frameworks (Java Spring Boot, Ruby on Rails, Node.js, or similar).
• Deep experience with relational databases and complex SQL with safe migrations.
• Experience designing REST API contracts with versioning and documentation (OpenAPI).
• Proficiency with TypeScript and React for shipping customer-facing features.
• Familiarity with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, or related identity standards.
• Ability to drive small-to-medium technical initiatives across teams.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tooling is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement Developer Portal capabilities end-to-end, from API contracts to frontend integration.
• Own data models and REST API contracts, ensuring backward compatibility.
• Build secure portal capabilities around authentication and authorization (OAuth/OpenID, multi-tenant).
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Architecture, and Platform teams to ensure coherent developer experience.
• Lead end-to-end ownership of features from contract through production operations.
