Job summary

Fingerprint is a remote-first company building the core APIs for fraud detection. We seek a Senior Backend Engineer with SRE focus to design, implement, and operate high‑performing backend systems.

You will own reliability, scalability, and production readiness for real‑time data processing services. Candidates should bring 5+ years in backend development, strong Go or Node.js skills, and hands‑on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and observability tooling.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend development with production experience.
• Formal SRE practices — error budgets, capacity models, production readiness reviews.
• Strong experience in GoLang and/or Node.js for scalable backend systems.
• Experience building and maintaining APIs, real‑time data processing, and microservices.
• Hands-on experience running production services on containers/orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Experience with infrastructure‑as‑code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize backend systems for real-time data processing with reliability and latency as priorities.
• Define and own SLIs and SLOs for Core API services and manage error budgets.
• Build observability through metrics, logging, tracing, and alerts.
• Participate in on-call rotation, respond to incidents, and lead blameless postmortems.
• Automate recurring manual work to reduce operational toil and improve incident response.
• Conduct capacity planning, load testing, and performance tuning to scale ahead of demand.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate backend components and ensure scalability.
• Mentor teammates and promote engineering best practices across the team.
