Job summary

Fingerprint is a globally dispersed, 100% remote company that builds fraud-detection systems. We seek an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to own Core APIs with an SRE focus, writing high-performance services in Go and Node.js and ensuring reliability at scale.

You will design scalable backend architectures, set SLOs, and own production operations, including on-call duties, incident responses, and cross-team collaboration to reduce toil and improve performance across distributed systems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend development experience with production systems.
• Formal SRE practice experience including error budgets and capacity planning.
• Strong Go and/or Node.js skills with scalable backend design.
• Experience building and operating API services and microservices.
• Experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Infrastructure-as-code using Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Observability tooling with metrics, logs, tracing, and dashboards.
• On-call rotation experience and incident response know-how.
• SQL proficiency with DynamoDB/Redis/Elasticsearch or similar.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and operate backend systems for real-time data processing with reliability and latency goals.
• Define SLIs/SLOs for Core API services and manage error budgets.
• Build observability through metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting.
• Participate in on-call rotations and lead postmortems.
• Automate recurring toil and drive efficient incident responses.
• Plan capacity, run load tests, and tune performance to scale.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate services.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote reliability best practices.
