Job summary

Reddit, Inc. seeks an experienced backend engineer to join the Compliance Engineering team in the United States. You will shape privacy, security, and regulatory platforms, partner with product and design, and own end-to-end architecture from design to launch.

You’ll design and implement distributed systems to scale under high load, mentor engineers, and lead cross-functional initiatives that impact Reddit’s platform integrity and user trust. Remote-ready, full-time role.

Qualifications

• 5+ years backend development with diverse stack experience across databases, networking and computing.
• Experience as a tech lead on projects with 3+ backend engineers.
• Ability to design distributed systems under high load; self-directed and proactive.
• Excellent communication for collaborating across fully-remote teams.

Responsibilities

• Shape the future of Reddit by adapting platforms to evolving privacy, security, and regulatory requirements.
• Partner with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver trusted, compliant experiences.
• Own product areas end-to-end from design to testing, experimentation, and launch.
• Lead high-impact cross-functional initiatives critical to Reddit's business and integrity.
• Mentor engineers and raise engineering standards across workflows and processes.
