Job summary

Reddit, Inc. is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Safety and Moderation team. This is a fully remote-friendly role within the United States, with base compensation disclosed and eligible for equity. You’ll partner with frontend, mobile, product, and design to ship high-impact features for moderators and communities.

You’ll own system design, APIs, and cross-functional execution while mentoring engineers and driving best practices in a fast-paced, globally distributed environment.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of software development in Go, Python, Rust or Ruby.
• Experience with GraphQL, REST, HTTP, Thrift or gRPC and API design.
• BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
• Entrepreneurial and self-directed in fast-paced environments.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in a remote setting.

Responsibilities

• Work cross-functionally with product, design, and other engineering counterparts to execute on product and business strategy and build novel products and features that our users will love.
• Contribute to the full development cycle: technical design, development, test, experimentation, analysis, and launch. You’ll be reviewing code and design docs, giving feedback on product specs and mocks.
• Lead a team of thoughtful, fast-moving, and motivated engineers. Set and define standards that improve developer workflows, recommend best practices, and help coach and mentor engineers on the team to further their professional development.
• Continuously learn and improve your technical and non-technical abilities.
