Job summary

Acuity Brands is seeking an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and run production backend services deployed to Kubernetes on Azure. You will work inside the PLM data model and APIs, building integrations with downstream systems and ERP, and own end-to-end deployment paths with infrastructure as code.

The role emphasizes deep expertise in C#/.NET, cloud services, and API integration, with a strong bias toward quality, testing, and telemetry to quickly diagnose production issues.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building and running production backend software.
• Strong command of design patterns and SOLID principles with DI and API experience.
• Expertise in C#/.NET with ability to learn other languages (Java/Go/Kotlin).
• Cloud production experience, preferably Azure; practical Kubernetes knowledge.
• API integration, data modeling, and infrastructure as code experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and run backend services deploying to Kubernetes on Azure.
• Build integrations between PLM and downstream systems via APIs you don't control.
• Work directly in the PLM platform with OData, REST, and Java extensions.
• Own deployment paths, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and Kubernetes manifests.
• Write automated tests as part of shipping; instrument services with telemetry.
• Review peers' code and maintain a consistent quality bar.
• Collaborate with product owners to turn problems into working software.
• Leverage AI tooling for implementation, debugging, testing, and documentation.
