Job summary

Acuity Brands is seeking an experienced backend engineer to design, build, and operate scalable services in a Kubernetes/Azure environment. You will own the end-to-end deployment path, integrate PLM with downstream systems, and work directly inside the PLM data model and APIs.

A strong foundation in C#/.NET and cloud experience is essential. You will join a small team with hands-on responsibilities from design through production support, and you will employ AI tooling to enhance development,

Qualifications

• 8+ years building and running production backend software.
• Strong command of design patterns and SOLID principles.
• Fluency in C#/.NET; Java/Go/Kotlin welcome.
• Production cloud experience; Azure preferred.
• Containers and Kubernetes in a real environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and run backend services that deploy to Kubernetes on Azure.
• Build integrations between PLM and downstream systems via APIs.
• Work directly in the PLM platform: OData and REST interfaces, configuration, and custom Java extensions.
• Own deployment path: infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, and Kubernetes manifests.
• Write automated tests as part of shipping, not later.
• Instrument services with telemetry to surface production issues.
• Review peers' code and maintain a high standard.
• Collaborate with product owners to turn real problems into working software.
• Leverage AI tooling to improve implementation, debugging, and documentation.
