Job summary

Acuity Brands is seeking a senior backend engineer to design, build, and operate production services within the PLM ecosystem. You will deploy to Kubernetes on Azure and create integrations with downstream systems via APIs, while working directly in the PLM platform using OData/REST and custom Java extensions.

You will own infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring; contribute automated tests, and help shape the product data and engineering workflows.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building and running production backend software.
• Strong command of SOLID design patterns and DI, unit of work, repository, factory, and strategy.
• Fluency in a modern backend language; primarily C#/.NET; Java/Go/Kotlin acceptable.
• Production cloud experience; Azure preferred, AWS or GCP ok.
• Containers and Kubernetes in production; debugging a cluster you did not build.
• Experience with API integration: pagination, retries, idempotency, partial failure.
• Data modeling in relational and document stores.
• Understanding tokens (OIDC) and secure auth flows.
• Infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipelines ownership.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and run backend services deployed to Kubernetes on Azure.
• Build integrations between PLM and downstream systems via APIs.
• Work directly in the PLM platform: OData REST interfaces and Java extensions.
• Own deployment path: infra as code, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes manifests.
• Write automated tests as part of shipping.
• Instrument services to surface production telemetry.
• Review peers' code and maintain a high coding standard.
• Collaborate with product owners to turn real problems into software.
• Leverage AI tooling to improve implementation, debugging, testing, and docs.
