Job summary

Stellar Development Foundation (SDF) is seeking a Backend/Systems Engineer to own the critical layer between core infrastructure and the outside world. You’ll design JSON-RPC endpoints, indexers, and data services that power the Stellar network for developers and partners.

You should have strong Rust and/or C++ backend experience, with a proven track record building robust RPC/API services for high-scale traffic. This is a greenfield, production-focused role in a fast-moving team.

Qualifications

• Strong systems or backend programming experience in Rust, C++ or both.
• Proven track record of designing and building robust RPC/API services that handle real-world, high-scale traffic.
• Deep understanding of database architecture, indexing, and query patterns.
• You are a builder who takes ownership of production infrastructure, not just prototypes.

Responsibilities

• Public API Layer: Design and build the JSON-RPC endpoints used by external tools, SDKs, and wallets.
• Transaction Lifecycle: Own the full path from client to consensus and back, including status tracking and timeouts.
• Indexer & Query Backend: Build the data backend powering the block explorer and integrations.
• Data & Observability: Build analytics pipelines and robust metrics/logging with Prometheus, Clickhouse, and Sentry.
• Cross-Functional Impact: Read code across services to understand behavior and integration points.
