Advatix is seeking a Senior/Staff Backend Engineer to help build and scale large-scale infrastructure for conversational AI. You will own backend services in TypeScript/Node.js and Python, scale simulation infrastructure to 200K+ concurrent voice calls, and design a purpose-built database for AI workloads.

The role is remote within the United States, offers $160,000–$240,000 per year with 0.2%–1.0% equity, and requires strong ownership and fast iteration in a startup-like environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend/infrastructure engineering experience with strong database and distributed systems.
• Experience building core storage or query layers for databases or large-scale data systems.
• Proficiency with Postgres, Redis, Kafka, or ClickHouse.
• Experience with cloud-native infrastructure (AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes).
• Experience with workflow engines like Temporal or Cadence.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement storage structures, query paths, and retrieval systems for large-scale operation.
• Scale infrastructure from 30K to 200K+ concurrent voice agent calls with high uptime.
• Own core backend services using TypeScript/Node.js and Python.
• Build systems integrating LiveKit, Temporal, STT/TTS, and LLM tooling for real-time voice agents.
• Harden production monitoring pipelines and improve observability.
• Identify bottlenecks and implement scalable solutions.
• Ship small working elements quickly and iterate from production usage.
