Job summary

Close in the United States (Remote) is looking for an experienced Backend Platform Engineer to join our Backend Platform team. You’ll build for other engineers, focusing on API wiring, authentication, rate limiting, and production observability as we scale AI tooling.

You’ll work across telemetry, migrations, authorization, and local development while shaping the future of DevDawg and Spice. This role is open at Senior and Staff levels, with cross-team opportunities over time.

Qualifications

• Seasoned Python engineer with production experience.
• Familiarity with API design and observability tools.
• Experience shipping AI tooling and developer tooling.

Responsibilities

• Expand DevDawg and Spice for internal developers.
• Build paved roads for API layer with consistent patterns.
• Modernize backend framework and improve performance and migrations.
• Own production readiness, observability, and incident response.
• Ship shared backend services and primitives; establish guardrails for coding agents.
• Collaborate across infrastructure and application teams.
