Job summary

Expedia Group seeks a Backend Software Engineer to build and evolve highly available services and APIs that power traveler and partner experiences across multiple domains. You will lead end-to-end development, shaping architecture, data models, and API patterns while collaborating with product, design, and data teams.

You will apply design principles and AI/ML concepts where relevant, ensuring reliability, security, and observability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Proven ownership of complex services or multi-service systems with design, implementation, and operational health responsibilities.
• Strong skills in system design (including low-level design), API design, and data modeling for scalable solutions.
• Familiarity with AI-driven systems and applying AI/ML concepts to real-world products, with safe integration into services.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve complex, highly available services and applications across multiple domains.
• Lead end-to-end implementation from requirements through deployment and ongoing support.
• Drive technical direction by evaluating tradeoffs and influencing architectural decisions.
• Collaborate with product, design, data, and engineering teams to deliver reusable, extensible platforms.
• Integrate and operate AI/ML-enabled components in production systems with reliability and safety.
