Expedia Group seeks a Senior Software Developer for the GenAI Platform to design and deliver scalable backend systems, APIs, and data models that power AI-driven experiences across our brands. You will partner with cross-functional teams, own delivery from design to production, and ensure reliability, security, and observability while advancing our platform capabilities and governance for GenAI assets.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional backend experience with end-to-end ownership.
• Proficient in Python and building production-grade web services with FastAPI or similar.
• Experience with cloud environments (AWS) and at least one data store like Aurora PostgreSQL or Elasticsearch.
• Familiarity with AI-driven systems and GenAI concepts.

Responsibilities

• Drive end-to-end system design, including low-level design, API contracts, and data modeling, aligned with architectural standards.
• Collaborate across geographically distributed teams to align on decisions and ownership.
• Partner with use-case teams to understand requirements and adoption of platform capabilities.
• Own delivery from design through implementation, release, and production operations with emphasis on testing, security, observability, and operational readiness.
• Define and track metrics for reliability, performance, adoption, and operating cost.
• Build with a platform mindset, creating reusable, extensible, self-service capabilities.
• Balance consistent interfaces with workload-specific flexibility.
• Coordinate with the AI Registry team on grading standards for AI assets and safety.
