Job summary

Databricks is seeking a backend/infrastructure engineer to build the system that enables ML/AI researchers to configure training and serving environments. You will join a high-visibility team shaping AI infrastructure across research, product, and enterprise use cases.

You will collaborate with AI infra teams, PMs, and customers to deliver reliable, observable, and scalable platforms for Databricks customers worldwide.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in backend or infrastructure engineering.
• Proficient in Python, Scala or Java.
• Experience with distributed systems, scalable APIs, or cloud-native infrastructure.
• Familiarity with service-oriented architecture, deployment pipelines, and system observability.
• Strong product and ownership mindset — you care about building the right solution, not just any solution.
• Knowledge of dependency management technologies including virtual environments or containerization.

Responsibilities

• Build the infrastructure that enables ML/AI users to configure training and serving environments easily, reliably and reproducibly.
• Collaborate with other AI infrastructure teams to build features that improve performance and observability.
• Interact with turnkey customers and product managers to envision new features.
• Shape how developers and data scientists build and interact with AI on Databricks.
