Job summary

MISUMI Americas is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design and scale our global manufacturing ecosystem. You will work on highly available backend services in AWS, developing REST/GraphQL APIs and event-driven systems using Node.js.

The role emphasizes AI-assisted development and collaboration with product, frontend, and infrastructure teams across the enterprise. You will contribute to robust testing, observability, and secure, well-documented code in a fast-growing, AI-enabled

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Strong skills in Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience building systems on AWS (SQS, Lambda, EC2, RDS, etc.).
• Distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
• Experience designing and maintaining REST or GraphQL APIs.
• Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Commitment to unit and integration tests.
• Knowledge of system design, caching, and security best practices (OWASP Top 10).
• Hands-on experience shipping production code with AI coding agents.
• Strong code review skills, including AI-generated changes.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop highly available, scalable backend services in AWS.
• Build and maintain event-driven, asynchronous systems using Node.js.
• Create robust APIs (REST / GraphQL) powering customer-facing and internal tools.
• Write specs, tests, and repo context for agent-driven development.
• Partner with product, frontend, and infrastructure teams to ship features.
• Contribute to technical design discussions and best practices.
• Help shape AI usage patterns and tooling within the team.
• Debug production issues and improve system reliability.
• Improve code quality through testing, observability, and documentation.
