Job summary

Beacon Hill Staffing Group, LLC is seeking a Senior Backend Data Test Engineer to validate large-scale data systems across backend platforms and frontend applications. You will design and execute backend test plans, perform ETL verification, and ensure data accuracy and quality in CMS-based environments.

You will collaborate with Data Coaches/Analysts/DBAs and Scrum/Kanban teams to align with program standards and Agile delivery, while developing robust test scenarios for API and data flows.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years as a Backend/Data Tester.
• Strong backend database testing using PostgreSQL, Snowflake and advanced SQL.
• Experience validating data in big-data environments (Databricks, Snowflake).
• Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, and Slack.
• Solid experience in Agile or SAFe methodologies.
• Hands-on creating user stories, defect tickets and acceptance criteria.
• Ability to craft detailed test cases from user stories and requirements.
• Strong communication and collaboration with Product Owners, DBAs and Developers.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive ETL and backend data validation across Databricks, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, and related platforms.
• Analyze CMS datasets (Shared Systems Claims, Final Action Indicator logic, Provider/Beneficiary data).
• Validate data sourced from CMS's Integrated Data Repository.
• Compare and reconcile backend datasets with frontend outputs and Databricks Unity Catalog results.
• Collaborate with BAs, DBAs, Developers, DevOps and Scrum/Kanban teams to ensure reliability and performance.
• Develop and maintain backend test plans, test cases and validation scenarios with minimal supervision.
• Design and execute API-based test scenarios to validate backend services and data flows.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies to ensure alignment with program standards.
