Beacon Hill Staffing Group, LLC is seeking a Senior Backend Data Test Engineer to validate large-scale data systems across backend and frontend/UI platforms. The role requires deep expertise in ETL verification, backend database testing, and data quality analysis within CMS-grade applications.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with Data Coaches/Analysts/DBA and Agile teams to ensure program standards, backend-frontend alignment, and compliant delivery.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of direct experience as a Backend/Data Tester.
• Strong expertise in backend database testing using PostgreSQL, Snowflake, and advanced SQL.
• Experience performing data validation within a big-data environment (Databricks, Snowflake, etc.).
• Proficiency with collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Slack.
• Solid experience working within Agile or SAFe methodologies.
• Hands-on experience writing user stories, defect tickets, and clear acceptance criteria.
• Ability to create detailed test cases based on user stories and functional requirements.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with Product Owners, DBAs, and Developers.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive ETL and backend data validation across big-data technologies including Databricks, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, and related platforms.
• Analyze, interpret, and validate CMS datasets including Shared Systems Claims, Final Action Indicator logic, Provider data, and Beneficiary data.
• Validate data sourced from CMS's Integrated Data Repository.
• Conduct detailed data comparison and reconciliation between backend datasets and frontend/UI outputs or Databricks Unity Catalog results.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts, DBAs, Developers, DevOps and Scrum/Kanban teams to ensure reliability and data accuracy.
• Ensure adherence Testing Framework standards, SDLC processes, and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in functional UI validations as needed to support end-to-end data integrity across user-facing components.
• Independently develop, execute, and maintain detailed backend test plans, test cases, and validation scenarios with minimal supervision.
• Design and execute API-based test scenarios to validate backend services and data flows.
• Actively participate in Agile ceremonies.
