Job summary

Beacon Hill Staffing Group, LLC is seeking a Senior Backend Data Test Engineer to validate large-scale data systems across backend and frontend components. You will ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency through ETL verification, SQL testing, and big-data technologies within CMS applications.

The role requires deep experience with PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Databricks, and strong collaboration with Data Coaches/Analysts/DBAs in Agile teams to ensure quality and compliance across the SDLC.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5+ years of direct experience as a Backend/Data Tester.
• Strong expertise in PostgreSQL, Snowflake, and advanced SQL.
• Experience with data validation in big-data environments (Databricks, Snowflake).
• Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, and Slack.
• Solid experience working within Agile or SAFe methodologies.
• Hands-on experience writing user stories, defect tickets, and clear acceptance criteria.
• Ability to create detailed test cases based on user stories and functional requirements.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with Product Owners, DBAs, and Developers.
• Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage tasks with minimal direction.

Responsibilities

• Validate ETL and backend data across Databricks, Snowflake, PostgreSQL.
• Analyze, interpret, and validate CMS datasets (Shared Systems Claims, Final Action Indicator, Provider data, Beneficiary data).
• Validate data sourced from CMS Integrated Data Repository.
• Conduct detailed data comparison and reconciliation between backend datasets and frontend/UI outputs and Databricks Unity Catalog results.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts, DBAs, Developers, DevOps engineers, and Scrum/Kanban teams to ensure reliability and performance.
• Ensure adherence to Testing Framework, SDLC processes, quality procedures, and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in functional UI validations as needed to support end-to-end data integrity.
• Independently develop, execute, and maintain detailed backend test plans, test cases, and validation scenarios with minimal supervision.
• Design and execute API-based test scenarios to validate backend services and data flows.
• Actively participate in Agile ceremonies.
