Job summary

Zillow Group is seeking a Senior Backend Engineering Leader to guide five engineering teams and partners in Product and Data Science. You will shape long-term strategy for back-end platforms, design high-throughput APIs, and mentor senior engineers across the organization.

You’ll partner with product, data, and ML leaders to translate business goals into technical roadmaps, drive reliability, security, and scalable architectures, and champion modern cloud-native approaches in AWS.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience designing, building, and operating backend or distributed systems.
• Experience leading large-scale, highly available services, preferably in a cloud environment (AWS/GCP/Azure).
• Ability to provide technical leadership across teams, set architectural direction, and drive roadmaps.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive long-term technical strategy and architecture for back-end platforms and services.
• Lead design and implementation of high-throughput, low-latency APIs and data pipelines.
• Mentor senior engineers and elevate engineering practices across multiple teams.
