Job summary

Twenty Technologies, headquartered in Arlington, VA, seeks an experienced backend architect to design and build high-throughput services that process real-time data across cloud and on-prem environments. You will own core services, set security-conscious architectural direction, and mentor engineers to raise engineering standards.

You’ll collaborate with product, operations, and frontend teams to ship reliable, scalable systems.

Qualifications

• 10+ years building scalable backend systems in production.
• Golang 4+ years or OO languages 4+ years with strong system design.
• Led technical initiatives end-to-end including architecture and delivery.
• Experience designing distributed, event-driven systems.
• Built cloud-native services and operated them in production (AWS).
• Strong security fundamentals: secure coding and threat modeling.
• Mentored engineers through code reviews and guidance.
• Strong communication and cross-team alignment.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build high-throughput backend services processing real-time data.
• Lead design reviews and pragmatic feature/system improvements.
• Design event-driven, distributed, resilient, and observable systems.
• Define stable internal/external APIs with frontend collaboration.
• Improve engineering standards through reviews, testing, and incidents.
• Build/maintain CI/CD workflows for rapid, secure delivery.
• Troubleshoot production issues, lead incident response, durable fixes.
• Partner with product/ops to translate needs into technical plans.
• Contribute to technical strategy and roadmap for backend services.
• Support hiring by participating in interviews and defining excellence.
