Job summary

Twenty Technologies seeks a senior backend engineer to design and build fast, secure services across cloud and on-prem. You will own core services, drive architecture, and mentor engineers while partnering with product, operations, and frontend teams to ship reliable systems.

Requirements include 10+ years building scalable backends, 4+ years in Golang or equivalent, and strong distributed-systems & security fundamentals. This is an on-site role in Arlington, VA with US citizenship required.

Qualifications

• 10+ years building scalable backend systems in production.
• 4+ years of Golang or server-side language with strong design.
• Led end-to-end technical initiatives including architecture and delivery.
• Experience designing distributed systems (event-driven, messaging).
• Built cloud-native services; operated them in production (AWS).
• Strong security fundamentals: secure coding and threat modeling.
• Mentoring engineers through code reviews and guidance.
• Strong communication to align teams on technical decisions.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build high-throughput backend services for real-time data.
• Lead design reviews and pragmatic feature/system improvements.
• Design event-driven, distributed, observable, and performant systems.
• Define stable internal/external APIs with frontend collaboration.
• Improve engineering standards, testing, and incident practices.
• Build/maintain CI/CD for rapid, secure delivery.
• Troubleshoot production issues and drive durable fixes.
• Translate needs into deliverable technical plans with stakeholders.
• Contribute to technical strategy and roadmap across services.
• Participate in interviews and help define excellence standards.
