Job summary

Twenty Technologies is seeking an accomplished backend engineer to design and build high-throughput services that process real-time operational data. You will own core backend systems spanning cloud and on-prem environments, making high-leverage architecture decisions and mentoring the team.

You will collaborate closely with product, operations, and frontend teams to ship reliable, secure capabilities while upholding engineering standards and incident readiness.

Qualifications

• 10+ years building scalable backend systems in production.
• 4+ years in Go or 4+ years in Java/Kotlin/C#/Python or systems languages with strong design.
• Led technical initiatives end-to-end, including architecture and delivery.
• Experience designing distributed, event-driven systems.
• Built cloud-native services and operated them in production (AWS).
• Strong security fundamentals: secure coding and threat modeling.
• Mentored engineers through code reviews and guidance.
• Strong communication to align teams around decisions.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build high-throughput backend services processing real-time data.
• Lead design reviews and pragmatic feature approaches.
• Design event-driven, distributed, resilient, observable systems.
• Define stable APIs for internal/external consumers and collaborate with frontend.
• Improve engineering excellence via reviews, testing strategy, and incident practices.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for rapid, secure delivery.
• Troubleshoot production issues, lead incident response, drive fixes.
• Translate stakeholder needs into technical plans with product/ops.
• Contribute to technical strategy and roadmap for backend services.
• Assist in interviewing and defining what great looks like.
