Job summary

Twenty Technologies is seeking an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to design and build high-throughput backend services supporting real-time operations. The role requires leadership, strong system design, and collaboration with product and operations teams across cloud and on-prem environments.

You will mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, and contribute to the technical roadmap while delivering secure, scalable systems in a fast-paced, high-stakes setting.

Qualifications

• 10+ years building scalable backend systems in production.
• 4+ years in Go or 4+ years writing server-side logic in other languages with strong design.
• Led technical initiatives end-to-end including architecture and delivery.
• Experience designing distributed, event-driven systems.
• Built cloud-native services and operated them in production (AWS preferred).
• Strong security fundamentals: secure coding, threat modeling, and defensible design choices.
• Track record mentoring engineers through code reviews and technical guidance.
• Strong communication skills and ability to align teams around technical decisions.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build high-throughput backend services processing real-time data.
• Lead design reviews and select pragmatic approaches for features and improvements.
• Design event-driven, distributed systems that are resilient and observable.
• Define stable APIs and collaborate with frontend for integration.
• Improve engineering practices through reviews, testing strategies, and incident handling.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for rapid, secure delivery.
• Troubleshoot production issues and drive durable fixes.
• Partner with stakeholders to translate needs into technical plans.
• Contribute to technical strategy and roadmap for backend services.
• Participate in interviews and help define what great looks like.
